Zero-Spend Tips For Decorating Your Home

You don’t have to have a big budget to beautify your home and give it a makeover. In fact, you don’t have to have any sort of budget at all. Zero-spend decorating is a great way to test your creativity and your artistic senses. Think outside the box for a little bit and see what you can do to reinvent your home without spending a dime. You’d be surprised to see what you can come up with. In the meantime, here are 5 of our favorite ways to redecorate the home with zero budget.

Tip #1 Shop your own collection

Over the years, you’ve bought so many gorgeous things to adorn your home with. Some might be in use while others may have already been stashed away. Visit your basement/attic or whatever room you keep extra stuff in and see if there’s anything there that you haven’t used in a while that would compliment the look you’re going for now. You can also take an item from one room and use it in another room if you think it’ll look better there.

Tip #2 Upcycle items around the house

Another thing you can do is to upcycle things that you no longer use into something you could use to beautify your home. For example, you could take an old knitted sweater and turn it into a throw pillow case for fall/winter. Or you could take that old, squeaky dining chair you’re ready to toss out, remove the backrest, and use it as a side table. Look around and see what useless things you can convert into something useful. You’re not only saving money, you’re helping save the environment, too!

Tip #3 Decorate with your original art

Framed art pieces can be super expensive. If you don’t have the budget for it or if you simply don’t see the point of buying something so expensive to simply hang on a wall, why not create your own art piece and hang it up instead? Not a painter? No worries, abstract art is all the rage these days and there are so many tutorials for it online. If you are quite the artist yourself, you might want to challenge yourself by doing a full wall mural as well!

Tip #4 Bring nature inside

Nature is filled with so many things that could make your home look a thousand times prettier. Bring a potted plant or two inside to add a nice, vibrant touch to your space. Even rocks found outside can be used as decoration in more ways than one. This is perfect if you’re the type of person who likes to decorate their home according to season. You’ll find plenty of seasonal decor from your garden alone.

Tip #5 Use up your leftover paint

Don’t let leftover paint dry up and go to waste! Use them to give your home a new look instead! If you don’t have enough to repaint your walls, you can repaint furniture pieces instead. Doing this one little thing can change the look of a room drastically. Don’t limit yourself to painting/repainting furniture, either. You can paint anything from the tiles in your bathroom to the curtains in your bedroom so go ahead and go crazy!

Giving your home a nice, new look doesn’t have to be expensive. You just have to have a lot of patience and creativity to make your home look and feel new.
