If there’s one room in the house that’s most important to keep clean, it’s the bathroom. Unfortunately, it’s one of the hardest rooms to keep clean as well. Or at least, that’s what most people think.
We’ve rounded up some tips from experts and experienced homemakers on how to keep the bathroom, one of the most used rooms in a home, clean for a longer period of time. Check them out below.
Tip #1 Keep it dry
The simple act of keeping your bathroom dry after every use is enough to help keep your bathroom clean for a longer period of time. A few minutes of wiping the shower walls down with a squeegee after you shower and opening the window or turning on the exhaust fan can solve about half of your bathroom cleaning problems. Mold? Gone. Mildew? We don’t know her. Musty odor? Never heard. Slimy shower curtains? Not in this bathroom. Even your issues with pesky water stains will be gone with this nifty little trick. Letting your bathroom dry after you use it takes a few minutes, but it can save you hours of deep cleaning in the future.
Tip #2 Compartmentalize your cabinets
Most people don’t have the luxury of having big bathrooms with ample storage so those tiny little spaces under the sink and on the wall are all precious real estate that you need to manage mindfully. Instead of chucking everything in the drawers, get mini drawer dividers or drawer organizer bins so you can create mini compartments to segregate your stuff. For under-the-sink cabinets, there are baskets that you can use to keep the same kinds of items in the same place. Doing this will help you avoid making a big mess (and leaving that mess for days on end) whenever you’re trying to find things.
Tip #3 Switch to liquid soap
Don’t you just hate it when your soap dish starts looking mucky with buildup just a few days after you’ve cleaned it? If you’re tired of wasting your time cleaning soap dishes, switch to liquid soap instead! Those spills are easier to clean than the buildup left by bar soaps on your dish soaps and they look so much neater as well.
Tip #4 Multitask
Those 5 minutes you spend daydreaming while waiting for your conditioner to work its magic on your hair could be used to clean the glass enclosure in your shower to prevent soap scum buildup. This is just one example of how you can multitask and put your time to good use to help keep your bathroom clean longer.
Tip #5 Spot clean regularly
If you think about it, all those hard-to-clean messes you’ve cleaned in your bathroom started out as minor messes that you neglected. Instead of spending hours deep cleaning your bathroom every 2 weeks, spot clean your bathroom regularly. You won’t have to deep clean as often because there won’t be much to clean.
With these tips, even the busiest person won’t find it difficult to keep their bathroom clean for a long time.
