The days are getting colder and people are busting out their heaters and putting it on full blast. You might have done the same too and, yet, somehow your room still looks cold and chilly instead of the warm and cozy winter wonderland you were hoping for it to be. So, what’s up with that and what can you do to get that warm and cozy huddled-up-by-the-fire-during winter type of vibe? It’s all about the lights! Here are a few tips to make your room look and feel cozier with lighting.

Tip #1 Light up some candles

Nothing adds warm and cozy vibes to any room more than a few candles placed strategically across the room. If you aren’t sensitive to scents, make it an aroma therapy candle to really set the mood.

Tip #2 Mix and match

Using a variation of lighting fixtures throughout the whole room can improve its overall vibe and can add a touch of warmth and coziness to it as well. Instead of using that one big fluorescent bulb on your ceiling that’s making your room look and feel like a classroom or an office, try experimenting with lamps and LED strips, together or separately, until you find a mix that’s perfect for the look you’re going for.

Tip #3 Switch stark white lights with warm lights

Got stark white lights in your bedroom? Aside from those possible causing you headaches, they make your room look dull and bland, too.  Switch out your bright whites with warm daytime bulbs and see how much of a difference it can make.

Tip #4 Get a dimmer

Light dimmers are amazing and they’re a game changer for anyone who’s wanting to create a warmer and more inviting vibe for any room in the house. It’s flexible so you always have the choice between bright and dim, depending on what activity  needs to be done in the room.

Tip #5 Diffuse it

If the harsh lighting in your room is taking away from its warmth and coziness, a quick fix you can do is to diffuse the light. Use shades for lamps or point them towards the walls or the ceiling to diffuse and soften the lights and give it a cozier look.

A simple change in lighting can greatly affect the mood in your room. Don’t be afraid to play around with different light colors and settings to find the right one for you.
