Over the past few years, more and more people have made the decision to leave their normal homes and opted for a Tiny Home instead. Anything below 600 square feet can be categorized as a tiny house. In the US, however, most tiny houses are designed under 225 square feet. Pretty small, right? It may seem fun living in a trendy tiny home, but most people who have had the experience of doing so say that it's an overwhelming and challenging experience.
If you’re planning on living in a tiny home soon or if you’re already living in a small space and you’re looking for ways to trick the eye into seeing a bigger one, we’ve got some tips for you. Check them out below.
#1 Paint the walls, ceiling, and baseboard the same color
Using the same color for your baseboard, walls, and ceiling can give the illusion of height to any room. This nifty little trick is especially perfect for short spaces that you want to elongate visually, though it can also make a room look and feel wider as well. As much as possible, make sure that there’s nothing breaking up the continuity since that’s what’s really giving the room the illusion of more space.
#2 Minimalism is key
Having tons of clutter laying around your small space can make it look and feel even more cramped! Try to get rid of as much clutter are you can in your room/home and have more of a minimalist approach when it comes to decorating your space to make it look bigger and wider. Make sure to declutter regularly, too, to prevent clutter from building up and taking over your space.
#3 Choose a light color scheme
As cool and edgy as a black room might sound, it would be better for you to use a light overall color scheme for your small room to give it a radiant and more spacious look. Go for light neutrals like white or beige. If you’re afraid your room might turn out looking too plain and basic, you can always add more texture to keep things interesting.
#4 Let the light in
Another thing you can do to make your room look bigger and more spacious is to let as much natural light in as you can. Open the windows and the curtains during the daytime. If your access to natural light is limited, you can recreate it by mixing and matching different lighting temperatures instead.
With these tips, you may not be able to have more space in your room but you can certainly fake the look! Try them out and let us know how it goes!
