Is there anything better than coming home at the end of a long day and retreating to your bedroom for some much needed relaxation and sleep? If your budget could only allow you to redo one portion of your house and you want to make sure it’s something that will pay off greatly in the future, redo your bedroom. A well-planned and well-designed bedroom could mean longer and better sleep for you which, in turn, could really boost your overall quality of life. The best part? You don’t even have to spend a lot to make your bedroom look and feel warm and inviting. Here are some tips and ideas on how to cozy up your bedroom on a budget.

#1 Paint your walls a dark color

Most people will tell you not to do it but painting at least one wall in your bedroom a darker color can help make it look and feel so much cozier. Dark walls are great for creating the perfect moody space conducive for snoozing and snuggling up with your special someone. Unless it’s the ultimate color that fits into your whole aesthetic, avoid black and experiment with other dark hues instead like midnight blue, space gray, or even olive.

#2 Opt for soft lights

Most bedrooms are, by default, illuminated by a single lightbulb somewhere in the middle of the room. If you want to get a cozy looking bedroom, get rid of that light and replace it with something that emits soft lights like wall sconces, table and floor lamps, or even strings of fairy lights.

#3 Break out the blankets

A soft, thick, and heavy blanket to hide under is just want anyone needs after a long and tiring day at work. Bust out your best, plushest, and warmest blanket and cozy up on the bed with a book or your phone. Blankets are a surefire way to make your bedroom feel cozier so you might want to invest in some really good quality blankets and beddings.

#4 Pile on the rugs

Stacking multiple non-matching rugs in a single area may seem like a crazy idea at first but it actually works quite well in making your room look warm and cozy. If you have tile floors or hardwood floors, this tip is definitely a must-try for you.

#5 Add more pillows

Snuggle bugs, rejoice! If you’ve ever been called out for having more than two pillows on your bed before, this is your sign to run to your favorite home store and get more. Make sure you’re getting different sizes, though. You want your bed to look soft, plush, and inviting, not just like it’s been overtaken by random pillows you pulled from around the house.

#6 Play with different textures

Don’t be afraid to mix and match different textures when decorating your room. That furry throw pillow could look really good against a knitted blanket or that fun duvet cover with a pompom trim.

#7 Light a candle

Not emergency candles or the kind you light when the power goes out. Rather, get yourself a jar or two of aromatherapy candles to light on nights when you feel like pampering yourself a little bit more. Scared of candles burning your house down? Get a candle warmer instead. It’ll melt the wax without burning the wick on your candle while still allowing the scent to fill the room and it’ll add a nice, soft glow to that little corner in your room, too.

How would you rate your current bedroom set up’s coziness on a rate of 1 to 10? If you think your room needs a bit of sprucing up, try out the tips we mentioned above. You don’t need to spend a lot to redo your bedroom and make it cozier!
